Those familiar with the Turkish scene are (or should be!) aware of its vibrant Metal scene. In all genres, the country produces some quality material. Thus, I introduce to you Persecutory.
They are part of the Turkish horde/bands that share many of the same members, but each band tends to have a bit of distinction between them. With Persecutory, they have a controlled and melodic War Metal style, if that makes any sense. I say this because they have a similarity to Lord Belial or Serpent’s Oath in the riffing and melodicism department. They also share a sound that can be heard at different moments of that particular War Metal approach. So that being said, they are not as barbaric or chaotic as their fellow countrymen, Sarinvomit. Granted, they share some of the same members. Persecutory infuses a more sinister aura and a dynamicism into their songwriting style. One just needs to take the time to listen and gather those little tibbits and bask in the aura that they create in the 5 songs they put forth on this full length.
The songs themselves are all over 7 minutes long, which allows for dynamics and atmosphere to be infused in the songwriting and also a more melodic approach in the guitars and with the vocals has well. They present a change of pace that lends a richer and more involved auditory assault. I say assault because, despite the more prominent melodic and keyboard elements, this is not a happy band. They do have an overall viscous attack, especially in the vocals of Pervert Profanatör. While similar to his style to his other band Sarinvomit, he shapes his delivery to offer and enhance the stylistic sound the band puts forth.
I would say a standout track would be the albums closer ‘Blazing Spheres’ it encompasses much of what I have described. Another plus that needs mentioning is has always the amazing art for this release (has well has past ones) the color, the imagery, it all conveys that for what you are about to listen to. I will be delving into their next and most recent release and from their I will delve deeper into the mood and intricacies of the songs themselves.
Consider this an introduction (if you are not already aware) of the band and its vibrant scene from which it hails from.
