A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

2-man project from Spain since 2016. This 1st album has good, raw, catchy riffs in the spirit of the 1995 breakdowns of God Dethroned and Impaled Nazarene. Songwriting seems rooted in Black Thrash with 3-5 repeating riffs…there are times I’m reminded of Ulver’s “Nattens Madrigal”, but, these fleeting moments are promptly returned to Black Thrash. The song writing is good, with a good sense of when to transition, repeat and place a guitar solo, which isn’t too flashy, but, takes you to an intended headspace. Production isn’t bothersome. Guitar tone is crunchy and clear. Bass is almost lost in the mix, but, this seems intended. Drums are clear enough. True to the tradition of most Black Metal and Thrash projects, the vocals are consistently high-reverb-mid-range with occasional guttural backing. I like both the music and the album artwork; I wouldn’t mind having their CD for my personal collection. (Orpheus)
