Soulcarrion – Enthrone Death

soulcarrion – enthrone death

Info

What grabbed me at the onset of this release from Poland’s Soulcarrion is the amazing cover art. It just screams Dark and Evil Death Metal! It fits the musical attitude and the band’s lyrical stance plus I am seriously hoping they have a shirt available haha.

So after taking the time and delving into the sonics within, I must say that my excitement was slightly tempered somewhat. So first a bit of what the music is like. That cover art first off gives you quite a good idea. Dark morbid Death Metal similar to Immolation both in sound and atmosphere, a touch of mid-era Morbid Angel but also with hints of Incantation. Have you listen to this you will hear bits and pieces of the aforementioned bands.

The production is warm and downtuned but not to the point of murkiness so clarity is given to the songwriting. A dark and evil atmosphere is conveyed throughout.

So now here is the (slight) bad news. The band is on the Godz Ov War and I do hope they don’t get too lost in the plethora of other releases they have of late. Examples are the latest Grave Heresy and Morgue who both have a similar approach (some great artwork too). They also can come across a tad samey but at a 30-minute runtime, I think it is very minimal and not too much of a concern.

As with much of Death Metal, you gotta be into it and also know what you are getting into. So that is what makes us all here useful and to help haha.
