Putrid Evocation – Eternal Gloom: A Void of Agony and Repugnancy [EP]

putrid evocation – eternal gloom: a void of agony and repugnancy [ep]

Info

Putrid Evocation are a band from Chile, who released their first demo in 2011. In all these years they have become a bit of a cult band and household name in the South American metal scene. The band released their first EP called “Blackness Enshroud” in 2013. In 2014, they signed with Xtreem Music from Spain to release their first full length album ,’Echoes of Death’.

This album could be described as Entombed/Autopsy influenced South American of Death. Morbid, ultra heavy and gory.

The band strike back in 2023 with their latest EP called ‘Eternal Gloom: A Void of Agony and Repugnancy’ on Dawnbreed Records. A well-deserved re-issue from the 2021 release by Burning Coffin Records.

Now, this recording presents a band with an evolved sound, more darker and heavier than ever before. Imagine a hellish mix of the likes of Entombed, fellow mates Eaten Alive, some Coffins (Japan), Impetuous and Grave Miasma. Not the least, to say it mildly.

‘Eternal Gloom: A Void of Agony and Repugnancy’ vomits forth a cavernous dark monolith of unearthly Metal Of Death with layers of razor sharp guitars, mesmerizing solo’s, an uncanny rhythm section and very creepy deep vocals. This is nightmarish pitch black doom all the way. There’s plenty variation, breaks, tempo changes etcetera in every track. The band know how to compose song and create some truly epic highlights. To me, it’s the type of music that was created in the void of Hell.

Death Metal junkies who crave this type of extreme Death Metal need not to hesitate for one second. All others should check this EP out and learn what true Death Metal is actually all about.
