A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

I swear, this band is not a modern or even a real entity anymore. Someone must have just found a whole bunch of unreleased recordings from an extremely killer, never known, band from the early 1990’s. And they have been releasing them under the Rude banner every few years since 2013. I know, I know, it sounds rather crazy but the music that is compiled and put out by the “so-called” band Rude sounds much more like it is from around the time that all of the gentlemen that they say are in Rude were born, from between 1987 to 1994.

Now, I honestly know and admit that I am just making all shit up here (or am I?) but, honest to Satan, the sentiment is real and this shit is some of the most sincere and realistic Old School Death Metal to come around (be found), period. This four piece from The Bay Area of California in the United States have been fooling people like me for a good long while, since 2011 under the Rude banner, all culminating in this newest EP here, ‘Outer Reaches’, which came out in 2021.

Although being from the West Coast of the United States (or so they say), Rude’s sound is decidedly very East Coast, Floridian to be precise. Even their promo material names three classic Floridian Death Metal bands in Death, Monstrosity and Morbid Angel. And if you can actually conceptualize what that mix may sound like then you have a really good idea what Rude sound like. Like literally right down to how the overall feel, songwriting abilities, production  sound everything just fits when talking about Rude and the other three aforementioned bands.

So, in the end, it really does not matter whether Rude are actually a real modern Old School Death Metal band or just some person profiting off recordings they found from the early 1990’s (which I made up). For what we get on ‘Outer Reaches’ is absolutely outstanding and that is really all that matters.
