Purulency – Transcendent unveiling of Dimensions [Demo]

purulency – transcendent unveiling of dimensions [demo]

Info

A miasmic display of pure uncompromising filth from Tennessee, Purulency does, in this demo, what many would expect a band under the name “Purulency” to do. Made up of current and ex members of various oozing underground Death Metal projects such as Cemetery Filth, Manic Scum, Blighted and Liquefied, Purulency is a new project, formed in 2018, that will easily appetize the scavengers of the Death Metal underground with a traditional slab of murky, cacophonic, ominous Death Metal that fits all the standards required to constitute a truly cavernous, underground release.

Whilst what Purulency does here is nothing new as far as the underground is concerned, largely aligning with the overriding direction of the Death Metal underground perpetrated by the Caligari Records label, it nonetheless seeks to revive the Death Metal spirit of old through an unfiltered, uncompromising, raw demo, that fans of Death Metal demos released in the late 80s and early 90s should find value in. Its rather esoteric and opaque themes attempt to combine that of Lovecraftian and ominous, foreboding ideas. The atmosphere created by the instrumentalization does a wonderful job at successfully blending these themes into the music, opening with an instrumental and throughout incorporating doomy, murky sounding riffs accompanied by occasional high-pitched chords creates a breeding ground for the ominous, disgusting essence of the demo to come into place. The accompanying of the unhuman, almost vomit-like vocals in turns creates a successful formula for this intention to manifest in the music, and suits their attempted Lovecraftian-horror themes perfectly.

Overall, Purulency’s ‘Transcendent unveiling of dimensions’ will provide a short but nonetheless substantive slab of reeking, slow, ominous, filth-ridden Death Metal, guaranteed to satisfy the cravings of such ambassadors of uncompromising, disgusting underground material, and can be classed as another addition to Caligari Records’ haul of releases maintaining and sufficing the true, unfiltered, Death Metal underground.

Hail Purulency!
