Lugubre – Anti-Human Black Metal

lugubre – anti-human black metal

Info

Lugubre started as a solo project by Striid. The demo ‘Kriich’ that followed was immediately promoted by a German label; At War Records. Fresh blood joined the ranks and the four-piece recorded some demo’s and a split with Misanthropy. Due to the positive response to these releases and the style Lugubre possesses, several gigs were given with the greats such as Black Witchery, Maniac Butcher, Nifelheim, Tsjuder And Urgehal. Some say the band was in hibernation after these events, but the truth was new material had to be written for unleashing the first full-length entitled “Anti Human Black Metal”. It has already been spit onto this world by January ’04 with the aid of Folter Records. The vinyl version and T-shirts of this album couldn’t stay far behind of course. The official CD presentation was in Berlin (Germany) while supporting the USBM Attack 2004. Aside Lugubre bands like Demoncy, Krieg and Abazagorath ravaged there assess of.

Nowadays, an exponential growth of bands devote their music and lyrical concepts towards totalitarian genocide compared to the scene in the older days it seems. Having said this, Lugubre’ “Anti Human Black Metal” is the fist in front to uphold these thoughts. The intro ‘Decreasing Of Human Population’ shows the hate for the human race, but the way it’s been brought reminds strongly to the ending paragraph of Zyklon-B’ only release; “War is good. Aids is good. Massmurder is good. Gangviolence is good. Crack-Cocaine is good. Anything that contribute to depopulating the earth is good.

When the next tracks are beginning one can easily predict this CD is including some raw fast black metal first class with some disgusting production. First impression leads to a mixture of the following albums in a nutshell; Judas Iscariot’s ‘To Embrace The Corpses Bleeding’, Beherit’s ‘Drawing Down The Moon’ and Sacramentum’s ‘Far Away From The Sun’ – with less melody involved nonetheless. As a matter a fact, the whole musical aspect is quite similar to these mentioned records. When listening to ‘Blitzkrieg’, and ‘Smashing The Traitors’ and ‘The Final Solution’ this will become clear. So the music is fucking great, but in this writer’ opinion the mouth of Satan is too much in the background though. ‘Down There’ is covered from Beherit, very well performed one might add and most importantly, not out of place on this ‘Anti-Human Black Metal’.

Although Kriich is among the line-up of Lugubre’ latest, he’s no more in the band and they did found a replacement for him in a session member already. ‘Anti-Human Black Metal’ says enough by title and that’s exactly what this album and the attitude of the band is all about. A fitting phrase to end this review of Lugubre; kill yourself!!!
