Yes! The new Cryptopsy, an album I’ve been looking forward to! In the past two years since the last album, the lads have replaced Lord Worm with a new “brutal vocal”, they’ve added a second guitarist and they’ve changed labels.
Anyone who knows Cryptopsy knows what to expect: raging Death Metal with some grind influences and an aggression…if you were to compare it to a tornado, then Hurricane Mitch from last year was a wimp! The songs are super varied and super technical, and sometimes border on the bizarre and hysterical musically. Intense speeds and nervous fiddling on the guitar. T
here’s just too much happening here to just listen to it casually. An incredible amount of tempo changes, one break after another flies around your ears, and this with a tightness that is unbelievable. Every now and then you hear a somewhat slower bit pass by, and even some melodic moments, but it remains Cryptopsy. You can just hear that they are very good musicians.
Yep, a great album, with a nice fat sound and eight tracks. What is a shame, though, is that it only lasts 31 minutes and 21 seconds, but for lovers of great, extreme music this CD is more than worth your money: buy!
