A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Back in 2019, Sanguisugabogg, what’s in a name, released their demo ‘Pornographic Seizures’, via Maggot Stomp and gained significant online traction, largely due to a younger generation using social media to broaden their musical palette.

This Mortician-influenced filth, which was picked up by Century Media, is certainly not for the faint of heart, creating a win-win situation for the aforementioned generation. Their star rose fast but sparked a divide, since the younger crowd saw Sanguisugabogg as “one of the heaviest bands in Death Metal’, while others felt “it sounds alright, but it’s nothing special, have we forgotten bands like Rottrevore or Mortician?”. It features groove, guttural vocals, and a rumbling bass, everything you would expect. In principle, that is also my final conclusion; I can imagine that if you are just discovering the genre, you’ll be impressed.

The veteran listener won’t necessarily switch it off, but will likely conclude that the feeling of it being “nothing out of the ordinary” is what remains.
