A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Some bands focus on musical talent, some on artistic endeavour, and some, like Waffenträger Luzifers, rely on obliterating anyone who’s within earshot.

Formed back in 2007 in Germany, the two man outfit has left a trail of rubble in it’s path over the past 15 years with 13 releases of maniacal Black Metal aggression. The bands 2nd full length ‘HellStrike’ is no different. From the moment the play button is hit, the listener is bombarded with blastbeats, thrashy riffs, Punk attitude and the throat tearing insanity of vocalist T.S. Holocaust. The track ‘I Hate’ seethes with fury and is more akin to early Black Flag and Discharge than it is anything coming out of the Metal scene. ‘Black Metal Possession’ is a riff-heavy Venom inspired anthem that no doubt would have a club full of sweaty metal-heads screaming “Black Metal!!” and pumping their fists in the air. The album continues in this fashion, leaving the listener no time to catch their breath, before bombarding them again.

Personally, I felt like 50 minutes was too long for this style of Black Metal and it became a bit tiring after about 35-40 minutes.

However, if you enjoy your Black Metal soaked in beer, goats blood and with a hefty dose of 80’s Punk, then you can blast this until your heart is content…or until your eardrums burst…whichever comes first.
