A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

A certain crewmember who I shall not name, once mentioned Technical Death / Thrash Metal is not something I’m overly enthusiastic about. Although FelixS has a point, I do like it when the song remains…a song. Like on Death’s ‘Symbolic’.

If it is going to be technical just for the sake of it, to show off or to make it as complex as possible and call it good musicianship, then I’m out. Miscreance keeps their Thrashy and Technical Death Metal in the category which I personally approve.

With both Death’s ‘Symbolic’ and ‘The Sound of Perseverance’ albums as well as Pestilence’s ‘Testimony of the Ancients’ and a bit of ‘Spheres’, enhanced by the Martin van Drunen-like vocals, you will have the well-known references. But fans of early Obliveon, Hellwitch, Carcariass and Sceptic will have their way with ‘Convergence’ as well.

I have to admit I have to be in the mood for this, as it is not as easy to digest like for example ‘Symbolic’, but nevertheless a well-crafted debut album.
