A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

With ‘Macabre Sunsets’ and ‘Athenian Echoes’, Nightfall released two solid albums in the 1990s through the France-based Holy Records, a label that probably rings a bell for many due to its role in the early days of Septic Flesh. That time has passed and Nightfall has evolved into a melodic whole that rummages through the crates of Gothic/Doom, Death and Black Metal in search of musical moments to fuse together.

Musically not comparable, but they walk a similar path as Rotting Christ, where the sound has become more modern, the production is improved and where the occult has gradually been replaced by something more epic and mysterious. All of this is done at a level that could serve as a stepping stone for those who are still in the antechamber of Extreme Metal, or looking to enter it.

And although my personal preference leans towards the Greek sound that came out around 1993-1995, ‘Children of Eve’ is a well-crafted release.
