Oh man… it’s hard to get more old-school than this! Church of Disgust has been around since 2010, but it’s clearly a band that could have started twenty years before that. “Veneration of Filth” is a ten-track monster breath of fresh air, which stands out from the rest of the “Swedish sounding” bands (some of them great, don’t get me wrong) that have been releasing stuff over the last few years (between 2014 and 2018).
The sophomore full-length of Texans’ Church of Disgust has simple but effective riffs all over the place, with just the right amount of distortion and ambience and a simple, straight, in-your-face music composition that takes no prisoners and leaves nothing but dust on its path! Listening to this takes me back to the early 90’s, making it a gem for any old-school death metal fan who are eager for new (but old) music.
Definitely an album to be added to the collection of any real 90’s death metal fan!
