‘Morbid Purulence’ from Recremation might be just a short, two song, 9 minute EP, but it’s enough quality brutality to make the brevity feel as substantial as a full length LP. This is some good heavy Death Metal mixed with some old movie samples. Think huge Neanderthal riffs, crushing drums , and low, sludge soaked vocals.
It’s no secret that Recremation are not trying to invent any groundbreaking Death Metal. It all stays pretty basic, with huge meaty riffs for stomping and jumping and the vocals sink in just enough for them to provide an essential low-end nastiness to the drumming. ‘Morbid Purulence’ features two absolutely sickening songs which, apart from wanting more of it in the middle of the first song, is definitely worthy. If you want a quick dose of ugly, crushing Death Metal that you can easily bang your head to, Recremation deliver.
Hope they have plenty of material in the pipeline.
