Straight out of the Peruvian underground, Demonic Sacrifice returns with ‘Anathema Lux Divinae / Rota Crucis Profanata’, a six-track assault of old-school Black Metal worship that carries the unmistakable spirit of the South American underground hordes. Now this is quite a slay for a release of this nature!
From the opening moments, the material reeks of satanic hostility, primitive aggression and that unmistakable underground essence that made the South American Black Metal scene so fucking memorable. There is no unnecessary sophistication or fashionable experimentation here, just filthy guitar work, savage vocals, pounding drums and an abundance of blasphemous attitude. The execution carries that raw and uncompromising character which immediately brings to mind the traditional Peruvian and South American Black Metal fraternity.
What makes this release enjoyable is its straightforward approach. The riffs are sufficiently vicious, the atmosphere is appropriately sinister and the compositions maintain a good sense of momentum without getting lost in unnecessary arrangements. It possesses that familiar feeling of an underground ritual recorded with one purpose in mind: to spread darkness, hatred and musical desecration.
There is also a certain nostalgic charm to the entire affair, recalling the days when South American Black Metal hordes were more concerned with delivering genuine sonic filth than chasing technical perfection or production standards. The six tracks, including a cover of Goatpenis, make this a particularly enjoyable offering for those who still appreciate the traditional underground mentality.
Demonic Sacrifice might not be reinventing the Black Metal formula, but that is hardly the point. This is about conviction, tradition and maintaining the filthy spirit of an underground culture that refuses to surrender to modern trends.
A fucking slay! Primitive, blasphemous and proudly South American in spirit. Keep the underground burning!
