A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

Hating Life is a Death Metal duo from Spain that consists of two members from Death/Doom-dealers Ataraxy. Their debut EP ‘Revenge From Beyond’, released on the 27th of February 2026, lets you know what to expect before even hitting play, from the cover art: a sinister amalgam of crushing, slow atmospheric parts and fast pummeling riffs, empowered by violent hammering drums, and let me tell you, this EP delivers.

In the 24 minutes of runtime, Hating Life perfectly balances heavy Doom Metal parts which remind of early Asphyx and fast-paced aggressive riffage for those who enjoy the early works of Swedish titans such as Entombed or Grave. The latter shouldn’t be surprising with a band moniker like ‘Hating Life’. The lead guitar has a crucial role in building up a terrifying atmosphere of death and decay, with slow, melodic leads drenched in reverb. Their very evil-sounding instrumentation is perfectly accompanied by old school, low and brutal growls delivered by Javi.

Production-wise, ‘Revenge from Beyond’ stands out with it’s polished, but gritty tone, defined by heavy and somewhat fuzzy guitars and an overall slightly dirty sound, which makes the EP even more enjoyable. One aspect where there’s room for improvement is the bass guitar, which needs to stand out, while here I feel like it is buried under the guitars.

‘Revenge From Beyond’ is a promising debut from this project, which I will definitely keep my eye on. While we wait for them to announce more music, why don’t you go check out this amazing EP?
