Russian Black Metal can certainly deliver high quality, but as in any country, there are plenty of bands that never escape the underground depths due to a lack of that very quality. Or perhaps they simply remain trapped within a specific niche.
Ritual Ambient combined with Raw Black Metal is what Kvltmor delivers here, structured into long tracks lasting between 9 and roughly 16 minutes. Between the ambient passages, the Black Metal recalls a blend of Gorgoroth’s first two albums and the rawer, non-atmospheric moments of Darkestrah.
The Black Metal itself is decent, though for my taste, the ambient sections could have been kept to a minimum.
