A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

I guess Bak De Syv Fjell is quite an unknown band to most of our readers. And this actually isn’t too surprising. Bak De Syv Fjell are from Bergen (Norway) and their bandname translated means ‘behind the seven mountains’, referring to the seven mountains surrounding their home town Bergen.

Bak De Syv Fjell was founded in 1995 by Haavard (one-time live-session guitarist for Hades Almighty in 2001) and Einar (ex-Gorgoroth, ex-Det Hedenske Folk and Sigfader) and in 1996 they released a rehearsal tape which is extremely difficult to find.

One year later, in 1997, Bak De Syv Fjell signed to Edged Circle Productions, a label run by Iscariah (ex-Immortal, Necrophagia, Wurdulak and Amok) and released their only label-release ever, a 7″ EP entitled ‘From Haavardstun’.

On this EP you’ll find two atmospheric Black Metal tracks with a doomy touch. The music is mostly slow to mid-paced, occasional used female vocals give a beautiful contrast with the clean, epic sounding vocals and on top you’ll have the guitar riffs which sound very mesmerizing.

With this 7″ EP Bak De Syv Fjell came up with their own style of highly original doomy Black Metal and there is really not one single band in the world that sounds likewise to this extremely talented band.

‘From Haavardstun’ is released in a limitation of 1000 handnumbered copies and is nowadays quite hard to find. But if you ever find this EP than don’t hesitate and buy it immediately.

‘From Haavardstun’ is simply an excellent 7″ EP which can’t be missing in a serious record-collection. Unfortunately Bak De Syv Fjell split up after the release of this EP.
