Bodyfarm – Ultimate Abomination

bodyfarm – ultimate abomination

Info

Bodyfarm from The Netherlands are part of the Death Metal scene since 2009 and ‘Ultimate Abomination’ is their fifth full-length album. This is also the first album with their new bassist/vocalist Ralph de Boer who is also the frontman of the Dutch Thrash/Death Metal legends Dead Head and who replaced the late Thomas Wouters (R.I.P.). David Schermann on drums is another new member of the band and he is the guy providing the remarkable rhythm work that can be heard throughout the whole record.

The beginning is set by ‘Torment’ which is a stomping and aggressive Death Metal track and a perfect opener for this excellent album. Then follows ‘Symbolical warfare’ which has more tempo changes from blast beats to mid-tempo passages. Bodyfarm know how to write slow and melodic tracks as is evident from ‘The wicked red’ and ‘The swamp’ as well as fast songs with black metal influences like ‘Blasting tyranny’ which sounds like some of the better Dissection tracks. ‘Carving repentance’ and the closing ‘Charlatan messiah’ will make your neck heard with their tight riffing and galloping rhythm. The remaining tracks are more mid-tempo but also of high quality.

‘Ultimate Abomination’ offers excellent songwriting, good audio production and impressive cover artwork. Bodyfarm are at their top form and this record is another Death Metal gem in their discography. In case you need some first-quality old-school Death Metal from the great Dutch extreme metal scene then this is a must-hear for you!
