A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

“Across Deaths” is a title you will remember well after the horror trip taken after pressing play. Malthusian from Dublin unleashed their debut album through Invictus Productions and it`s a beast. Cacophonous sounds, brutality woven in disharmonic riffcarpets that are disturbing, complex and yet still flowing naturally down the veins of mortal flesh. This is atonal craziness not meant to be pleasant or gentle. Furious drumming alternating speeds and fills, all destroying riffpatterns and basslines as well as utterly disgusting mind crawling vocals. Infester, Nuclear Death, Immolation, Hate Eternal, just some examples of bands hat came to mind while listening to the album, but none sounds like Malthusian or vice versa. Infester is maybe the closest to compare this dark monolithic creature. Blackened Death Metal of the highest calibre, sheer brutality, forward thinking and non-compromising, presented in a very organic and balanced production which works perfectly for this nightmare without drowning everything into pure chaos. Fantastic debut. (DPF)
