A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

Australia’s Golgothan Remains are back with a new EP titled ‘Bearer of Light, Matriarch of Death’. Four tracks of excellently executed Blackened Death Metal, which isn’t far off from the bastard child of Immolation, Deathspell Omega and Inquisition.

The common denominator is a fast, heavy and somewhat technical rhythm section topped with intricate guitar melodies. Melodic in the sense of dissonant riffs, akin to the aforementioned bands. The vocals vary from sharp shrieks to low drawn out growls. The growls have a rather unique tone, voicing not strictly the low registers but with a hint of Black Metal wailing.

‘Bearer of Light, Matriarch of Death’ is a dark EP that ventures through a great variety of the different facets of Black/Death Metal. A must listen to any fan of dark and brutal music.
