A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

First of all, this album made my day. Really! Fuck it for a decent intro, this is an album you just have to listen to, for old times’ sake. Why? Because it’s one of the best Death like albums I’ve heard in years. Maybe even since Burial’s “Relinquished Souls” (1993) which was a great album in the vein of Death’s “Spiritual Healing”. Morfin decided to go one album backwards, and try as much as possible to get close to “Leprosy”. They also added some Massacre and even Obituary (take a listen to the vocal lines on “Dark Creators” and you will hear some typical John Tardy “Slowly we Rot” vocal lines) in their songs. The instrumental bass track could have been skipped in my opinion, on the other hand Metallica’s “Kill ‘em All” has “Pulling Teeth” as well so it’s probably a matter of taste. Did I mention there is a Death cover on this album as well…The obvious “Leprosy” has been recorded. Zero points for originality, but who cares if you get this in return. (Ricardo)
