At the threshold: old-school Death Metal built from weighty, mid-paced riffcraft, Death/Thrash clocking and Doom-weighted pauses, with guttural brimstone vocals and a cold, faintly blackened atmosphere. Images of dissolution, dreams of disproportionately severed orthodoxies, a sacred condemnation draped over our failed history. Warm guitar tone and ruthless clean-pivoting low end rhythms trail infernal blistered sinews through bursts of aggression and a pall-laden tread: It is grit, groove dynamics, and clarity. It is cold, darkness, and a certain stoic vigor we may hope to die worthy of.
Fans of Death Metal, expect a sense of the cosmic grounded in the crypt. Decay collects its presence, belying urgency; the last to speak sentience proven long mute. As you will hear, early-’90s Death Metal weight drives the procession; Vader’s martial force, Morbid Angel’s diseased turns, Deicide’s hostility, flashes of Immolation-like dissonance, without settling into imitation. An atmosphere of suspended alarm. Celestial intrusions penetrate the solemn symmetry of fog and soil; without momentum, warmth and light prove illusory.
The structure mourns and warns of our slumping march, with all its frantic implications– the steady desiccation of the will, the enclosure of stoic pestilence, and that ethereal regime of infinite disruption.
“Decease of the worlds, the one who never sleeps/… Your gaze is death and creation/…Destroyer of all limitations/The one who burns/With ancient knowledge
…Arise from the obscurity/All is one/In the emptiness of time.”
–Invocation (track 6)
Clamber and tribute as we may, come dawn we lie still. And so may we stand accursed.
Firm monuments survey the void. The funeral continues.
