Scythrow are a Death Metal band from Lappeenranta, Finland who, however, started out playing Thrash and Heavy Metal and gradually deteriorated to the big league of old school traditional Death Metal music.
Their aggressive Death Metal isn’t the fastest, but it is downright gory with a rattling bass and with sufficient stomp, pomp and knack to make your important nerves go ape shit and start flexing. The album was recorded during the summer period of 2024 and offers 8 ear friendly, yet gruesomely addictive Death Metal cuts. Think Demilich and Convulse at their foulest. There’s always a scent of vileness in the air as Scythrow slice themselves a couple of prime cuts.
It’s not even done that special, nor being extreme: it’s just more than decent Finnish Death Metal that sounds very addictive. Rotten riffs at high velocity of the down tuned murky guitars, typical Finnish vo-kills, tempo changes from mid tempo to blast beat, or crawling Doom. No slam; Scythrow keep it authentic. Everything necessary for cold cult Finnish Death Metal has been added to the music. Those into something primal, I suggest they listen to the album prior to purchasing and let the music overwhelm them and make them think it’s 1987 again!
Sometimes you need to go back to basics in order to relive that initial feeling once again.
