Energetic Krusher – Path to Oblivion [Re-Release]

energetic krusher – path to oblivion [re-release]

Info

An obscure Death/Thrash act from Newcastle upon Tyne, the birthplace of, among others, Venom, who in their short time of existence (1987-1990), released one album and 2 demos. In 1989, ‘Path of Oblivion’ saw the light of day via Vinyl Solution, who only released the record on 12” vinyl, which is why Awakening Records made the choice to release the album, the 2 demos and previously unreleased material on double CD.

Regarding the debut album itself, you hear a band that was pioneering with Thrash riffs together with Death Metal outbursts that perfectly reflect the period of writing these songs. You hear moments of Morbid Angel’s ‘Altars of Madness’, Nuclear Assault’s ‘Game Over’, old Testament, Sodom’s ‘Nuclear Winter’, Napalm Death, in other words, you hear the familiar 80s in it. After releasing ‘Path to Oblivion’, the band started on the demo ‘Severe Bombardment’, where a more crossover/hardcore vocal style made its entrance, but where the music also leaned more towards the S.O.D. side. Not much later, singer Ali Lynn left the band to continue with Thrash/Crust/Punk band called Hellkrusher. Guitarist Nick Parsons took over the vocals after Ali’s departure, but it was to no avail… not much later Energetic Krusher ceased to exist.

A significant historical document, with all available recordings and a 16-page booklet with photos, flyers, and liner notes written by original drummer Martin ‘Hairy’ Harrison. Absolutely fun for collectors of obscure bands or those with a love for Death/Thrash from the late 80s.
