Let me bring you back to a captivating period of time, when Death Metal was booming in the USA. 1990 – 1994, rehearsing in basements or the garage, recording with a tape-recorder, sending your demo to all kinds of people, zines and labels. Oh musing about the past…
Sapremia was a part of those days, with demos in 1992 and 1994, ‘Subconscious Rot’ and ‘Existence of Torture’ respectively. Typical US Death Metal, with fine riffs and a good growl…blastbeats and a wink towards the Swedish scene. Not because of the sound, but it has a certain Grave-groove sort of speak. Both demos can be considered as good Old School Death Metal albums, which will get extra points because of the nostalgia.
This compilation was released by the band back in 2006, the 2023 re-release on CD by Awakening Records got a 20-page booklet with all kind of old photos, flyers etc. “Dedicated to all maniacs with a passion for old-school Death Metal!”, and I can only agree.
