VHS – We’re Gonna Need Some Bigger Riffs

vhs – we’re gonna need some bigger riffs

Info

We’re Gonna Need Some Bigger Riffs? Your gonna need some bigger pants for how much you will shit yourself over how good this album is! VHS knocked this one out of the proverbial park! Three albums in and they are still pumping out their sleazy mix of thrash, death and grinding horror gore madness. Somehow they seem even nastier on this album!

This is the perfect mix of melodic guitar hooks, bowel bursting mid tempo stomps and melt your tiny hillbilly mind grinding! They even got guest vocal appearances from Trevor Strnad (The Black Dahlia Murder) and Matt FUCKING Harvey (Exhumed, Gruesome), which blows my mind because these boys live up in Northern Ontario Canada where I don’t even think they have internet, without a doubt they probably still write letters by hand like the true death grind nerds they are! I think the greatest thing about VHS is that they make listening to their music fun, the lyrics are hilarious and based on some of the cheesiest (and best) b-rated horror movies and exploitation flicks. I love the different vocal styles as well that they switch between on the songs, guttural lows to scratchy screams! This album is a little more on the slower side compared to their older material but that isn’t bad at all because the fuckers got even more melodic to make these tracks stick in your head! They even got heavy metal guitar solos splattered all over the place!

I know that I used a lot of exclamation points in this review, only to get my point across that you should go check this album out and play it on repeat… so what are you waiting for? LET’S GET GRUESOME ON SOME CRUISE SHIP CARNAGE! (Ted Gloom)
