A rather quick follow-up to ‘Battle magic’. It also resembles that album pretty much. I have one slight problem…I don’t really like the drum sound. I think it sounds too triggered, too mechanical. That doesn’t really go with the music very well. But for the rest…cool riffs, great keyboards and Byron’s vocals stay special.
The foundation of the music is still Black Metal (blastbeats), but it’s still very melodic, just like the former album. It also has the guitars in the background, they could, and should. have been louder. This album has some great songs on it (I like ‘The Empyreal Lexicon’ very much), and the complaint that Bal-Sagoth repeat themselves…well as long as it sounds like this I don’t give a fuck.
