Imperathron from Chile, Santiago, strikes us with their debut full-length manifest of cursed Black/Death Metal ‘Polemus Pater Panton’ in March, 2026. The band wastes no time and opens the album with full force, assaulting our ears with blast beats, sharp riffs and brutal growling, all of them executed in a very precise but aggressive manner while keeping the pressure on for the entire length of the release.
The songwriting is impressive for a debut album, but it is still pretty standard for this genre: I would have loved to see a bit of experimentation with different rhythms instead of relying mostly on blast beats, and tremolo picking riffs. While it sounds like a modern interpretation of the Black/Death genre, and that is not a problem at all, I feel like there’s still plenty of room for growth and for playing around with more interesting structures.
Nevertheless, Imperathron’s ‘Polemus Pater Panton’ is a great debut and it really does a great job in setting the scene for what the band has to offer. I strongly suggest listening to this album and keeping an eye out for what they shall offer us next.
