Necrotum – Dreamscape Of The Aincent [EP]

necrotum – dreamscape of the aincent [ep]

Info

Necrotum is a Death Metal band from Romania that I’ve had my eyes on since the ‘Hanging Above The Deadpool’ EP from January 2022. However, I haven’t had time to listen to this EP until now but it did not disappoint.

Riff wise it reminds me a lot of early Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse, but production wise it sounds like some of the Swedish bands on lower budgets like Carnage or Treblinka. This results in a really interesting sound. These guys clearly take influence from both the Swedish and the American Death Metal bands and this can be proven by the fact that they covered Necrophobic’s classic ‘Awakening…’ as the closer for this EP. However the original songs from Necrotum leans more towards the American side of things.

Overall, another solid release from this band and in my opinion it’s just a matter of time before they get picked up by a bigger label and can be seen playing festivals around Europe.
