Maul is no stranger with their mostly mid-tempo Death Metal where groove is key, and where a Hardcore-style beat was added more than once.
It is almost an understatement that the balance of Death Metal vs Hardcore has shifted more to the Hardcore side over the years, considering the drum patterns, breakdowns, and chugging riffs, or what is belonging more and more to modern Death Metal. The fact that a sudden “blegh!” flies by also shows that they don’t close their eyes to what the modern kids like to hear.
For anyone who cannot appreciate this mix, or modernity in general, this is not an interesting record.
