A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Lots of bands want a part of the new Thrash metal allegiance cookie, and Kobold is no exception… Thrash metal in killer tempo  with no boundaries to experiment, and so did this threesome. Keyboards are added in their sound and the use of back vocals and vocals style changes are common on this release. But about the vocals: the used grunts are decent, but the sharp vocals – which are the main ones- get bored quickly unfortunately and aren’t really balanced in my eyes. Nope, pity these vocals are taking away a big part of the pleasure for me personally – others perhaps will jump in the air when hearing this vocals.

The songs have a long duration (+50% are above the 6 minutes) where lots of riffs are packed together, ultrasonic ones switched with slower parts, sometimes an outer space feeling is audible when listening to the keyboards (track “Deus Ex”) and as already stated: with different backing vocals added to them. This threesome from Serbia gets an average evaluation for this second studio-album titled “Masterpace” from me, where they need to step up a bit more to release a ‘masterpiece’. Just check out the best song imo “Ad Astra” (where they go full throttle)  and see if you can dig it… (Fredde)
