Goats of Doom – INRI

goats of doom – inri

Info

Goats Of Doom from Finland release with ‘INRI’ their 7th full-length album. It opens strong with ‘Vihani saatanan mahdilla roihuaa’ (“May my hatred blaze with Satan’s power”) a total shredder with plenty of occult vocals and vibes.

Running a translator through the Finnish song titles reveals a 100 % no-nonsense satanic approach, creating a cyclical, almost liturgical structure. A lot of effort has been put into the vocals and choirs who often retain evangelic proportions. The music is also very bass-driven (we all love a bulldözer-bass that makes our balls tremble) which further incites their brand of raw but well-executed Black Metal.

In just under forty-five minutes, Goats Of Doom serve up seven tracks for fans of dark music. ‘Kunniattomat’ is the longest, clocking in at around nine minutes. Considering that ‘Teeskentelijä’ clocks in at just over four and a half minutes, making it the shortest track on the release, it’s safe to say there aren’t any truly short songs on this album.

The music explodes with a fury that fuses Black Metal and the diry vibe of rock ‘n’ roll. This is also evident in ‘Kuoleman Lapset,’ for example. These Finns know how to use their vocals, delightfully overwrought, to connect with people, or not, and that’s how it should be here. This isn’t music for the mainstream, nor should it be. That’s perfectly understood here.

‘INRI’ lets Goats Of Doom shine in their own world of darkness. The depths of insane Black Metal still hold many treasures that have been hidden for a long time and won’t easily surface. This is a killer album and probably their best up to date! Purely for those who love raw, stirring, and dark music.
