A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

I love it when a release lives up to its name, and the debut demo from Danish Death Metal miscreants Sequestrum entitled ‘Epitome of Putridity’ did exactly that. So I happy when this new promo dropped into my inbox earlier this week; a new EP release from these Copenhagen filth peddlers, this time entitled ‘Pickled Preservation’ and once more released through the always vulgar Extremely Rotten Productions. What’s not to love?

Well this Ep has everything a self-respecting connoisseur of gore blasted Death Metal could ask for; a stomach churning intro, rancid audio samples and even ‘Guts’, a three second long noise of a track… literally. Furthermore there is bestial chugging riffs, monstrous bass leads and bowel trembling growled vocal work, as well as punishing and remorseless, not to mentioned cavernous drumming. Hell, ‘Human Broth’ even comes with a groove drenched rhythm section just for the sheer hell of it.

Yep… the ‘Pickled Preservation’ EP is perfect if you are a sick fuck like me who wants to hear every nasty little bowel movement in my Death Metal… and there is plenty of that too!
