A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

French, one man, Raw Black Metal-er Ergot de Seigle had a rather busy year in 2022. With two demos, this being one of them or course, and a full full-length album all being released that year.

With this being a demo, and albeit a demo from a Raw Black band, I am willing to give some of the tonal issues a pass, as that rawness is really what it is all about in this subgenre. But, and this is a big but (like mine), when the keys/synths sit on a level that clips and washes out the rest of the mix, I find it very off-putting to annoying. It honestly ruins the experience for me and I find it hard to get past this one glaring issue. And ‘Demo II’ is littered with this issue.

Besides that major issue I have, there are some rather good things in the stuff that gets muffled out, or when the keys are not there. It’s pretty good and the potential is high. But those keys just absolutely trash something that could have been good.
