Info

Since 2017, each year a new EP from Engulf is released, and each EP is released through the Everlasting Spew Records label. You could ask yourself the question: what is wrong with a full-length? But it seems this is a one-man project by Hal Microutsicos, and this one is the last chapter in a series of 3.

This EP opens strong, but its immediately clear that the drums are programmed, and sorry, but that’s not something that makes me smile. The robot style of such drums just takes away the personal touch, also the fact that the drums are overruling doesn’t gain points. Okay, its dark and brutal Death Metal, his vocals are top but I miss some unity and identity in the instruments. Nope, “Transcend” is not a keeper unfortunately for me, despite the nice old school album cover. (Fredde)
