This Romanian Funeral Doom act Mourners was dubbed the successor to Eye of Solitude, yet that band has also resumed releasing new material after a brief hiatus.
Returning to Mourners… it’s actually fairly simple; all the genre’s essential ingredients are present. Long, immersive guitar strikes, melancholic keys for support or as an interlude, a heavy and deep grunt, and a drummer who won’t be breaking a sweat at these speeds… essentially, exactly what you’d expect from Funeral Doom.
There’s nothing wrong with ‘Act I: Tragedies’, if you can appreciate Funeral Doom.
