One year after ‘Tunes of Sitra Ahra’, an album that is good without any doubt but is one of the less often chosen in my collection when it comes to Grafvitnir, they switched from Carnal Recors to Shadow Records. And both Niantiel and Modrius thought that it would be the best opportunity to release a new album right away.
‘Into the Outer Wilderness’ is, once again, a sublime example of the continuation of Grafvitnir’s melodic yet vicious Black Metal. Their 9th album is one you can buy without any hesitation when you are familiar with their work. The production is a bit warmer and less sharp than the previous albums, but that’s just nitpicking if it would be a bothering factor. It is not innovative and the 90s is always around the corner on a Grafvitnir album, but I don’t expect any more or less from them.
I’ve mentioned their influences more than once in my previous reviews and this hasn’t changed. But hey…for me that is the reason why I’m thrilled when they release new material.
