If you take in consideration that this EP, clocking somewhere between 9 and 10 minutes, has 13 tracks on it and take a close look at the title and cover art, you know what you will find even before sinking the needle in this EP’s grooves. Yes, total Swedish buzzsaw Grindcore frenzy. Combining Grindcore and Swedish Death Metal isn’t exactly new as bands like Necrony and General Surgery (not entirely coincidentally both Swedish) were already there from quite early on, but the idea never seems to get old. So why change a winning formula? So, yes, Mortify finds itself exactly betwixt and between those two early Swedish originators of the Swedish Carcass sound.
