France’s Innommable made an assured first impression with ‘Rage from Elsewhere’, an EP that crafts an immersive and confidently executed, Black Metal release. Rather than relying solely on relentless aggression, Xzvrey favours atmosphere and carefully constructs dynamics. The songwriting moves naturally between dissonant passages, ritualistic pacing and bursts of controlled violence, allowing each track to develop without feeling repetitive.
The guitar work is particularly effective, balancing bleak tremolo melodies with dense chord progressions that gradually reveal their depth over repeated listens. The vocals sit comfortably within the mix, adding menace without overshadowing the instrumentation, while the organic production retains enough rawness to preserve the music’s intensity. Although echoes of orthodox Black Metal and small hints of cavernous Death Metal can be heard throughout, Innommable avoids sounding derivative. Instead, they present a coherent identity built around an oppressive atmosphere and thoughtful composition.
For a debut EP, ‘Rage from Elsewhere’ displays impressive maturity and suggests that Innommable are a band well worth following within France’s Extreme Metal scene.
