A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

After releasing their debut album ‘Besetting the Altar’ (2017) and ‘Occultum Exordium’ EP (2018), the black horde Serpentshrine returned with their second album ‘Allegiance to the Myth’, filled with hateful Black Metal.

Archmage Nekrokrux, Conqueror CoughinWraught, and Emperor Trøllkömmåndër live up to their names and immediately reveal their attitude, along with tracks like ‘Satanic Rituals of the Perverse’ and ‘Fathomless Rapture’. The Black Metal ranges from quite fast to a morbid mid-tempo grimness, where Old School Second Wave Satanic Black Metal remains the common thread.

While often the usual names are mentioned as influences, Serpentshrine takes a different approach, namely Thy Primordial, Enthroned, and Throne of Azaz. But also Urgehal comes to mind during this Satanic praise.

‘Allegiance to the Myth’ delivers what you expect, nothing more and nothing less. And there’s nothing wrong with that.
