I don’t think I have to tell you that The Netherlands is a rather small country and its metal scene is pretty much limited to a small group of individuals who, all put together, would only make a small village, but I still come across Dutch bands that I had never before heard of. Recently I encountered this band called Destructo from the capital of Amsterdam that I was completely unaware of. Erhh, I was unaware of the band, not of Amsterdam being the capital of The Netherlands, just saying…

This three-piece, smeared in (proto) warpaint and heavily decorated with spikes and bulletbelts had the cover for their debut album done by Sadistik Exekution’s own Rok and adds a logo that is ripped off from Sarcófago. Now, if that doesn’t give away what you are dealing with, I don’t know what will. Destructo serves you the best of the best of Metal’s extremities: early pre-Reign In Blood Slayer, a bit of Venom, Sodom, some Bathory… You know the drill. This comes quite close to bands like Toxic Holocaust, Nocturnal, Cruel Force and Desaster, a bit of that German sound that would just fit perfectly to Iron Pegasus Records’ roster. But Destructo also doesn’t shy away from some Iron Maiden-esque hardrocking solo’s to drench their Blackened Thrash in, listen to ‘Lycanthro Kommando’ for instance, which is a nice fist banger to drink your lukewarm beer to.
