Wampyric Rites – The Rites Of The Vampire Inscriptions [EP]

wampyric rites – the rites of the vampire inscriptions [ep]

Info

Although the band was only formed in 2019, Ecuadorian Wampyric Rites is one of the most eye-catching bands from the thriving South American Black Metal scene. Not just because of the band’s extensive back catalogue, but certainly also because of the high quality they manage to maintain despite their impressive output. Every few months we are treated to new material, of which ‘The Rites Of The Vampire Inscriptions’ is the latest feat.

‘The Rites Of The Vampire Inscriptions’ is a 17-minute clocking EP that consists of two songs that are unquestionably an extension of what the band has released before. The atmospheric Black Metal with authentic late 90’s/early 00’s ambience is once again delivered with abandon, with keyboards given a full but supporting role. Compared to many other bands from the South American continent, Wampyric Rites employs a somewhat more open, less subdued and almost cleaner production, resulting in a sound in which there is (more) room for the guitars. This slightly more balanced sound gives the band a fairly unique and recognisable position within the local Black Metal scene, but surely without compromising on musical intensity or any of the genre aesthetics in general. The icy screeching and the fairly simple drums add to the overall authenticity and organic feel of the band’s musical identity.

As a whole, the duo behind Wampyric Rites seem to have increasingly found their own sound and niche and are taking more and more steps towards further perfection of their musical vision, ‘The Rites Of The Vampire Inscriptions’ is undoubtedly convincing proof of this.
