A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Ah Sacarmentum! I don’t know about you, but every time I hear or read the name “Sacarmentum”, my thoughts immediately go to their classic must have “Far Away From the Sun” debut album which was released by the infamous Adipocere Records in 1996. What a juggernaut of melodic Black / Death Metal!

Prior to “Far Away From The Sun” these Swedes have recorded a demo (“Sedes Impiorum”) and an EP (“Finis Malorum”) which are both included on this re-release, along with covers of Mercyful Fate (“Black Masses”) and Sepultura (“The Curse / Antichrist”). And for the collectors out there, there is a Previously unreleased track called “Morbid Humanity” which was recorded in 1992. And as usual with their re-releases, VIC Records provides a remastered version with a booklet filled with old photos and liner notes.

Although there is only a year and a couple of months apart between the demo and the EP, you can definitely notice the path they took towards “Far Away From the Sun” as the EP is the blueprint while the demo is more raw, unpolished and (Swedish) Death Metal like, especially the unreleased track.

A commendable re-release! (Ricardo)
