In the year of 1989 Death Metal was just born. Nowadays ancients like Morbid Angel, Obituary and Death started something new. The European equivalent for those bands was Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death and the Dutch Pestilence. ‘Consuming Impulse’ is the band around enfant terrible Patrick Mameli’s second release.
Yearn for those days as you may yearn for great vocalists. Back then most bands then had a characteristic vocalist and Pestilence had Martin Van Drunen (later in Asphyx). His sick voice only makes ‘Consuming Impulse’ a true classic. Still today this record sounds original and way better than most of the new releases.
‘Creatures living in my veins. The horror, frightening, sickening. The pain that I am bearing. Begging, please get them Out of my body!!!’
