Blood Rage – Welcome to Crimson Pines [EP]

blood rage – welcome to crimson pines [ep]

Info

Old School Death metal from Wales left to marinate in old 80s slasher flicks. Guttural vocals, fantastic 80s film like pieces to tie the narrative together all backed with pounding drums and wall of churning guitars and bass to provide the bedrock.

In truth what’s not to like this album is chock full of songs that get the head nodding and the repeat button pressed. With guest vocals by Kyle Messick of Maimed on the track ‘He Came Back’ to add some variety to the very low register vocals. If asked to find a stand out track, I don’t think I could as they all fit together as one whole release and to take one in isolation is doing it a disservice.

Admittedly who doesn’t love the sound of a revving Chainsaw which in ‘Chainsaw Castration’ kicks in nicely to add weight to the track. Skewered with a tent stake has some nice guitar work which adds some adds a chaotic feel which is a good change.

For fans of old school Death Metal before the BPM meter got clicked up a notch and Chris Barnes Era Cannibal vocals.

This has the potential to be one of those newer OSDM albums that will be an essential release to any OSDM collection. I’m looking forward to seeing where this band go so book me a ticket to Crimson Pines (Richard Keenahan)
