AthanaTheos are from Nantes, France and ‘Cross.Deny.Glorify’ is their third full-length album. What is really interesting about this record is that it is a concept one: it offers some thoughts over the Christian religion from an atheist point of view.
The band consists of only two people: Aurelian Guerriau on guitars and Samuel Girard, who is responsible for the vocals,guitars and drum programming. ‘Cross.Deny.Glorify.’ offers plenty of great guitar riffs and leads, the guitar work is remarkable. Think of something like Ex Deo mixed with Morbid Angel and even Nile in some of the melodies. Tracks like ‘They Are Spreading The Pestilence’ and ‘To Deny’ offer blasting drumming and fast-paced guitars that will make your neck hurt. On the other hand there are melodic pieces like ‘Credo Quia Absurdum’ where you can hear some Christian religious chanting, same can be heard also in ‘The Silent Oblivion’.
‘Cross.Deny.Glorify.’ is a long album, it is over 50 minutes long but it manages to remain interesting at all time. Obviously the guys in AthanaTheos are very talented musicians and have an unique approach towards the Death Metal style. The sound production is on a very good level and the cover artwork is impressive.
This is an album with original sound and it is not something to be missed if you consider yourself a Death Metal fan!
