Garoted from Lincoln, Nebraska in the United States are releasing their fourth full-length album for us all to revel in and enjoy with ‘Bewitchment Of The Dark Ages’. And if you are unaware of who Garoted are, well, that was where they are from, what album they are on and I guess the only thing left for me to let know is what type of music that they play. And that just so happens to be the genre of Death Metal. But then you would say, “Ben, Death Metal is a very umbrella type label for a band in this uber broken down age of genres”. And you would be right there.
But with Garoted here, the best and most simple way to describe them is by just saying that they are Death Metal. Sure, they are high speed, blasting fun but they do not enter into the Brutal sub category. Also, they are quite rifftastic and adept at fretboard gymnastics without stepping foot within the Tech zone either. They for sure are not slow and Doom-y or Cavernous but it’s not like the speed is up tempo blitz all the time, just most. It’s just good, fast, blasting Death Metal and ‘Bewitchment Of The Dark Ages’ is an outstanding record front to back. All killer, none of that styrofoam like packing peanuts stuff here.
Final verdict, the album rules but beware of listening to it while driving. It can cause you to speed up, headbang, throw your horns up high and even car mosh. Which we all know is dangerous. So you’ve been warned.
