The Canadian scene seems to have a certain preference for extreme metal. An accusing finger can be pointed towards the blokes in Blasphemy for that. But nowadays you have acts like Antediluvian, Mitochondrion and Revenge who are showing the ultra-black colors of this demolishing sound. Adversarial can be added to that list as well, if you havent already added them. The massive sounding Blackened Death Metal combined with dissonant riffs and barbaric low growls isnt spectacular, yet it is effective and interesting. Although most of the times Im not a fan of the dissonant part in general. The ambiance is repellent, which suits this kind of style, but not everyone will enjoy it. Fans of the genre will recognize the value of “Death, Endless Nothing and the Black Knife of Nihilism”, others should try a track like “Cursed Blades Cast Upon the Slavescum of Christ” to decide if this is the kind of blasphemed dark hymns to accompany their lunchtime with.
