Instead of releasing an EP with some new tracks, re-recorded tracks and covers, Avulsed released a compilation, for the price of an EP, containing 2 new tracks, a rerecorded demo track, 3 covers and 9 Avulsed covers made by other bands.

The new tracks are in the vein of their ‘Gorespattered Suicide’ album and same goes for the re-recorded demo track. The covers are totally done in the Avulsed way which means you must listen carefully to ‘Piranha’ (Exodus) and ‘I Wanna Be Somebody’ (W.A.S.P.) to hear the resemblances with the originals. Gorefest’s ‘Mental Misery’, off the ‘Mindloss’ album, is very well done.

The Avulsed covers, or, reanimations if you like, done by the other bands, are quite diverse. For example a modern Meshuggah-like version of ‘Devourer of the Dead’, a Confessor version with a Warrel Dane (Nevermore) kinda vocal of ‘Sweet Lobotomy’, ‘Sick Sick Sex’ with a female choir vocal in it and last but not least a ‘Cybergore’ kinda remix of ‘Stabwound Orgasm’.

As said…quite diverse and quite an original idea, unfortunately not all cover versions/reanimations are that well executed.
